Letter to the SC Sentinel, 2/12/2022
A recent letter by the past president of Friends of the Library makes some nice sounding promises. More space, over 100 affordable housing units etc. I have heard many versions of this project from the city. So how much bigger would the new library be? (Smaller is the current projection.) How many of any promises are actually guaranteed? None.
Numbers keep changing in the PR effort but funding sources are not there. Additionally, according to the city’s own consultant the garage is not needed and will be a long-term drain on city finances.
It’s past time to put this boondoggle away for good.
